I completed the sports massage training with SPS and Viv, in 2017. I had looked around at a few courses and was recommended this course (and Viv, the main tutor), by a couple of colleagues. My reason for studying at that time, was because my working role was qualification development lead and one of the subject areas i managed was sports massage, so i wanted to know more (My previous qualifications was taken in 1987, so it was slightly out of date!). The course had plenty of opportunities to practice skills (exactly what i needed) and offered plenty of extra support with practice hours and event work. I would highly recommend training with SPS.

I became interested in soft tissue therapy while I was a track and field athlete. After I retired from competing I decided it was a path which I wanted to pursue. I spoke to many people from all different sports about the best course to do and each and everyone said I should do Viv's course. Right from day one it was clear that all the tutors were of the highest level, and nothing was left unturned. If you want to learn the right way then choose SPS Learn.

As a mature Physiotherapy student hoping to work in Sport, I hoped that this course would provide me with the skills needed to not only treat and prepare athletes, but also patients in hospital and clinic environments in order to have additional treatment options at my disposal.

I found the course challenging and rewarding in equal measure and felt suitably prepared by the tutors to approach professional and amateur clubs in order to complete my required hours. We were also regularly offered opportunities to complete hours through contacts provided by the tutors. Sessions were well structured and I felt well prepared for the assessments required of the course. The tutors were knowledgable and actively working within the field of sports massage, and led the sessions in a supportive and approachable manner, challenging me in order to develop my skills and reasoning. I can’t recommend this course enough and feel it was highly complementary to my Physiotherapy studies.

I attended the full range of SPS courses and with continued mentoring by Viv Lancey, I have in the past year worked repeatedly with multiple professional and Elite teams, including England Athletics Elite camps, WRU, Japan, Fiji, South Africa and the Gwent Dragons.

I honestly believe, SPS offer the best training, mentoring and experience package available in the U.K , which, undoubtedly can lead to the highest level of work.

The SPS course was one of the most useful courses that I have been on as it gave me greatly improved soft tissue skills and has opened many doors within elite sport. As a result of completing the course, I have had the privilege of working on the Sports Massage Team at the Athens Olympics, with the GB cycling squad, several Commonwealth Games, World Superbikes and MotoGP. The course gave me the confidence and skills to cope with all stages of athlete management and I also use them extensively in my private practice. The teaching and content of the course were outstanding and I cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone wishing to improve their ‘hands-on’ skillset.

I was one of the SPS Ltd Sports Massage Level 4 cohort of students in April 2016, completing my studies in March 2018. As I have a visual impairment, I was concerned about what support I may get with any course provider in order to obtain a quality learning, observing and inclusive outcome in order to undertake and pass the course.

Viv Lancey and her talented staff were extremely supportive, empathetic and positive towards ensuring every aspect of my experience was of the highest calibre. Before the course every element of the course structure and how I participated was discussed, planned and then, in certain parts, they adapted to my needs during the delivery of the course. Additionally, as I had no medical background, Viv was very encouraging and motivational in times of when I was struggling with the content of the course or the belief that I would actually successfully pass the course.

I hold Viv in the highest regard as she demands high delivery standards from her team and high standards of the development of skills and knowledge from her students that ultimately produces confident, highly skilled and adaptable therapists from their time under her tutelage. I would recommend to anyone interested to undertake any of the courses that SPS Ltd offer as any time studying with this company would be a positive investment in that person thinking of such studies.
